Registration for following maths
Algebra 1: 8th-9th grade level. (7th grade with teacher evaluation). Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra, Algebra ½ or strong standardized test scores in math. Algebra 1 is required in most schools for the general diploma and is the beginning basic math for the college preparatory diploma. This is Algebra 1 taught in one school year for 1 credit of high school math. Course Description: Algebra 1 includes the study of relations, functions, factoring polynomials, graphing, and graphing systems of equations, radicals, inequalities, rational numbers, solving word problems and quadratic functions. 1 credit M/W 11:45-1:10pm
Geometry: 9th, 10th, or 11th grade (8th grade with teacher evaluation). Prerequisite: Algebra 1. May be taken concurrently with Algebra 2/Trig. Geometry is required in most schools for the general diploma and is usually the second math taken for the college preparatory diploma. This geometry is taught in one school year for 1 credit of high school math. Course Description: The study of lines, angles, triangles, parallel lines, circles, area, space, volume, symmetry, congruence, proportions and the formal proofs of properties dealing with these topics. Students will learn postulates, definitions, theorems and construction. Geometry is a math developing logical thinking skills. 1 credit. M/W 1:15-2:40
Algebra 2 with Trigonometry: 11th-12 grade level (10th grade with teacher evaluation) Course Description: Basic study in equations, inequalities, polynomials, radical equations and inequalities, polynomial functions, discrete math, conic sections, rational expressions and equations, exponential and logarithmic relations, trigonometry functions and trigonometric graphs and identities. This course will meet the requirements for Algebra 2 for four year universities.Prerequisites: Algebra 1 required, Geometry preferred but may be taken at the same time. 1 credit M/W 2:45-4:10pm
Precalculus (also called Advanced Math): 11th-12th grade (10th grade with teacher evaluation) Course Description: Precalculus continues the study of advanced algebra, trigonometric functions, polar coordinates, limits, complex numbers, derivatives, and integrals. Prerequisite: Algebra 2/Trig. 1 credit T/TH 1:15-2:40
AB (AP)Calculus (prerequisite is pre-calculus) Course Description: Calculus AB will include the study of derivatives, rates of change, functions both graphically and numerically, Riemann sums, indefinite and definite integrals, differential equations with slope fields, solving separable differential equations, and L’Hopital’s Rules. 1 credit T/TH 11:45-1:10 1
